Last July over two thousand senior executives from the technology industry met and agreed there is a critical shortage of people with technical skills which could slow down the economic growth in the next five years.<\/p>\n For years, industry analysts have expressed their concern about a technical skills shortage. But that now that shortage is even more significant and critical than ever before. Several executives declared that they could not hire enough technical skills graduates to meet their demand. An executive said: \u201cEven we hire all university graduates this year, we still have a massive deficit, and we have many important projects to implement, but cannot get enough people to do.\u201d<\/p>\n The most sought-after skills are in Big Data analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing which are especially difficult to fill. Several companies are hiring university students in their second or third year in these fields before they even graduate. But the needs are still much more than these roles. It is an overall shortage of software people in every industry, whether they are mobile apps developers, cloud-computing developers or technical specialists. The shortage is not happening in the tech industry but also in the non-tech industry because artificial intelligence and automation are needed in the banking, financing, insurance, manufacturing, and healthcare too.<\/p>\n An industry analyst wrote: \u201cMany of these skills are relatively new and only a few schools are teaching them.
