Answer: When you select a field of study, you should investigate carefully and only decide when you have all the information. It is important to do more research because it is your career and your future. Especially if you study oversea because it will require a lot of financial support from your family. I do not know much about this field, so I cannot give you good advice. But I have asked some professors who teach Chemical Engineering in my school, so my answer is limited to what I know<\/p>\n
Chemical engineers work in manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, petrochemicals, food processing, etc. with many various specialties depends on the training and degrees (BS, MS, Ph.D.) Within these industries, chemical engineers apply their knowledge to create, design, and solve technical problems of the products. Some specialize in a particular chemical process, such as oxidation or polymerization. Others specialize in a particular field, such as nanomaterials, or in the development of specific products. They also work closely with other engineering fields in manufacturing, environment, to ensure the safety of workers and consumers.<\/p>\n
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job market for chemical engineers is declining because there is more supply than demand. The main issue is many manufacturing factories has been relocated to other countries due to the strict environment laws in the U.S. Overall employment in this field is not as good as other engineering fields, although some companies still continue to hire chemical engineers to do research and it requires an advanced degree, mostly a Ph.D. There are few states in the U.S. with strong chemical research facilities; the job is limited to these states.<\/p>\n
According to several professors, many U.S. chemical engineering graduates are now working overseas in countries where factories are located, so there is still some job opportunities. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, the salary for entry-level of chemical engineers is between $55,000 to $80,000 depending on specialty and positions.<\/p>\n
