Answer: There are many opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) because they are the primary drivers for all future works. \u00a0Mathematics consist of three main areas: Actuarial Science, Mathematics, and Statistics. Each area offers a specific degree (BS, MS, and Ph.D.).<\/p>\n
Actuaries Science\u2019s focuses on review and assess the risk of certain events occurring and develop policies to minimize the cost of that risk. Most actuaries science graduates work in the insurance, finance, and banking industry.<\/p>\n
Statistics is the application of mathematical principles to the collection, analysis, and presentation of numerical data. Statisticians apply their knowledge and skills to the design of surveys and experiments. They collect, process, and analyze data then interpret and present results. Most statisticians work in medical and pharmaceutical industry as well as government.<\/p>\n
Mathematics focus on using math theories, computational techniques, and computer algorithms to solve economic, scientific, engineering, physics, and business problems. The work of mathematicians falls into two major categories Theoretical mathematics and applied mathematics.<\/p>\n
Mathematicians work in every major industry from business, government, to academia. According to the U.S. government, employment of mathematicians is expected to increase by 22 percent during the 2010\u20132020 decade.\u00a0 Advancements in technology usually lead to expanding applications of mathematics, and more workers with knowledge of mathematics will be required. However, jobs in the industry often require advanced knowledge.
