Programming languages<\/p>\n

A student wrote to me: \u201cWhat is the most popular programming language? How many programming language a software developer must know? Please advice.”<\/p>\n

Answer: There are different opinions on which programming language is the most popular. Based on what I saw using in universities and from discussions with people in the software industry, I think currently Java is the most popular. Many software companies are using Java as the main programming language. Next in popular is C++ \u00a0based on a high numbers of job listing from software companies. If you know Java and C++ then you would do well in the industry.<\/p>\n

Depend on the company and the application that you do, sometime you may need to know another languages. You may find that Visual Basic, C, C#, PHP, Python, Ruby, and JavaScript are also popular.
