Creating Mobile App<\/p>\n
A Computer Science student wrote to me: \u201cI like to create some mobile apps and start my company, but my friends said it is a bad idea because there are many mobile apps in the market already. What do you think? Please advise.\u201d<\/p>\n

Answer: Currently there are over four million apps on Apple App Store and Google Play Store so it may be difficult for customers to know about your apps. But it does NOT mean you should not develop mobile apps or create a startup. Before developing anything, you should ask yourself: \u201cWho\u00a0 will be using my app and what can it do for them?\u201d If your app can solve a problem for the customers, then you still have a good chance to make money with your apps.<\/p>\n
I have written in the previous blog that every entrepreneur must start with knowing customers and their needs. By knowing who they are and how you can reach them is the most important step to develop a successful startup. Once you have an idea, you should research the market to identify competitors to know what they have and you do not. If there are many similar apps on the market, you may want to think of another idea rather than wasting time to develop something that already exists. Even you believe your idea is better, you still need to find customers who are willing to buy your apps. If you have found these customers, then you need to ask them what do they want in your product, what features and functions that you must build. After knowing these requirements, you should build a prototype and take it back to these customers and ask if they would use it, and how much they are willing to pay for it. If they do not like it, you have to go back and redesign your product until you have what the customers want and willing to pay.<\/p>\n
The common mistake that many entrepreneurs made is building the product without knowing about the customers and how it will be used. There are two important factors with a mobile app. You must make it simple to use (i.e., good user interface) and good visual elements for people to interact with your app (i.e., good user experience). Building mobile app is NOT difficult, but it requires a lot of time and efforts to make it perfect and achieve the business goals.<\/p>\n
