I did not know what to say to make him feel comfortable because I know that the threat is real. Driverless cars will be a threat to people who make a living by driving. They are not just taxi drivers,\u00a0 but also truck drivers, and bus drivers. The question is how long it will take for this technology to completely replacing human drivers? In my opinion, I think that truck drivers will be replaced first because the self-driven truck can be programmed to go from one place to another, which is easier than a taxi. Soon truck driving jobs will join factory jobs to be replaced by smart machines. Last month, a Uber\u2019s self-driving truck that carries 50,000 boxes of Budweiser beer had traveled from Colorado to San Francisco, making the first time that commercial cargo was shipped by a self-driving truck. Last week, companies from Ford, Toyota, to Mercedes and Tesla also announced that their self-driven cars will be available for sale soon. The common question is which jobs will be replaced by smart machines? A new industry study published in 2015 found that 37% of workers in America could lose their jobs by automation. The advancement of technology will disrupt the state of employment in many places, across a wide range of occupations, shortly.\u00a0 Even advanced countries like the U.K. Germany, France could lose 45% of the jobs and Japan, and S. Korea could lose 49% of their jobs. But the matter will be much worst to other countries that are still depending on agriculture or beginning to transitioning to industrialization. These countries are the \u201clate comers\u201d and never be able to catch up.<\/p>\n
Last year, many economists raised their concern about \u201cJob polarization\u201d where agriculture and manufacturing jobs are declining, but high-skill technology jobs are expanding. The issue is the fast pace of change, and the slow pace of adjustment will put millions of people out of work in a very short time. Dr. Jerry Kaplan, a professor at Stanford, has written a book called: \u201cHumans Need Not Apply\u201d that predicts upheaval in the labor market in the near future when machines are taken over and destroy many countries\u2019 economy.<\/p>\n
