Want to have a Tesla<\/p>\n
The recruiting war among tech companies has heated up so much that one company will now give computer science graduates a Tesla if they come to work for them. As the shortage of skilled technology talents is so critical, many technology companies are desperate to find qualified workers. Axon, a Seattle-based company, said that it would buy a Tesla for eligible candidates hired by the company.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe wanted to rise above the high salary and bonus and find the best possible people,\u201d Axon general manager Marcus Womack said. The company thinks it worth offering as a job lure considering how much it generally costs to acquire a new employee and the value that person brings to the company.\u00a0 Of course, Tesla cars are available only to computer science graduates who have special skills that Axon needs such as full stack engineer, big data analytics, and back-end web developer. Qualified hires are able to sign up for a car after they have made it through their first 90 days at Axon. Existing employees can get a Tesla, too, by referring three people for critical roles that Axon ends up hiring.<\/p>\n
Technology workers are flocking to the U.S. from all over the world to take advantage of the technical talent shortage. Large companies like Google, Facebook, Uber, Amazon, Microsoft and many startups all face a major issue: \u201cNot enough qualified technology workers for the company to grow.\u201d All technology companies have complained to U.S. government that there are far not enough workers to meet their demand. Even with hundreds of thousand foreign workers come in every year, there is not enough to meet the high demand of this fast economic growth.<\/p>\n
Last week, A top technology executive told the newspapers: \u201cToday, if young people do not study technology, they are making a big mistake. There will be more technology jobs in the next ten years, and there will never be enough workers to meet that need. Technology changes so fast, no one can catch up, even top universities will not be able to develop courses fast enough to train students so the need will always be there. It is up to the students to find any way to learn the latest technology skills because most companies will hire people on their skills not on the degree. In this fast changing world, the traditional education system is obsolete.\u201d<\/p>\n
