Sep 20, 2016 – According to the new industry survey of 1,500 chief information officers (CIO) from companies all over the world, currently there is a massive demand for graduates with the right skills. For years, there are news about technology talent shortage but according to this new survey, the shortage is much bigger than most people expected. According to the survey, 70% of CIO complained that the shortage is hurting the industry where it needs to grow fast. One executive said: \u201cWe have so many works but cannot hire enough people, and it is a growing problem for all companies. We cannot find these skilled people anywhere, including India and China.\u201d<\/p>\n
The survey identified that Big data analytics specialist as one role that is hard to fill. Many companies are taking extra steps to hire them and willing to pay higher wages for people with this skill. But the technology talent shortage is much larger than that. Both India and China are having problem to find enough skilled people to fill their opening jobs. The surprising factor is many opening jobs require only basic programming and testing works which point directly to the quality of college education. A Chinese executive complained in the survey: \u201cThere are many candidates with computer degree but do not know how to code well, they cannot work on back-end on mobile apps or developing cloud-computing platforms. They can write few hundred lines of code on a PC but that is all. That means what they learned in school is nothing but few simple programming exercises and memorize a lot of theories but they cannot do anything else.\u201d<\/p>\n
Today Big data, security and cloud computing are the three hottest job in every country. These three have the highest demand and highest salaries among all technology jobs. The fourth and fifth high demand positions are software project managers and business analysts (requirements Engineer).<\/p>\n
