The Education Trends in 2015<\/p>\n
The economic forecasts for 2015 are full of optimistic with more hiring, more growing, and more job opportunities. The reasons are the price of oil is falling; business costs are reducing; companies\u2019 profits are soaring, and consumers are spending. Of course, the decline in oil price is bad news for countries that depending on oil exports and it has already damaged economies of Russia, Venezuela, and several Middle Eastern countries. Similarly, robotics and automation is bad news for countries that depending on cheap labors and it begins to impact the economies of many countries in Asia.<\/p>\n
Although European economy is still recovering due to the weak economies in Spain, Greece and Italy, but the U.S economy is growing fast with stronger housing market and significant investment in the technology sector where many jobs are created. For few years China is considered a strong economy but recently it is slowing down and probably will continue due to its economy is depending mostly on exports that could not last when automation technology and robotics are replacing cheap labors as the alternative solutions.<\/p>\n
An economist explained: \u201cAs the world is transitioning from the Industrial Age to the Information Age, certain things also change, some economic policies and theories are no longer valid but it takes time for people to understand and adjust to it. The financial crisis is the signal that investments in stock market and finance as the way of making money are over. The growth of Silicon Valley and the high-tech industry signal the beginning of a new economy for the future as investment in knowledge is the key for economic growth. A hundred years ago, the richest people are industrialists who own large corporations that dominate the economy. Fifty years ago, the richest people are investors in oil, natural resources, and financial companies that control the market. Today the richest people are entrepreneurs who own or invested in technology companies. It is obvious that changes are happening and science and technology are the areas that every country must focus on to take advantage of the new economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
With advancing in technology, the transformation from raw materials into products has created many opportunities but also become a big challenge for countries that cannot keep up with technology trends or change the mindset of their managers. But this transformation is happening so fast due to the interconnectivity technologies that create new ways of doing business. However, in contrast with the past during the industrial age where capital (Money) is the key and everything happen depending on the amount of investment. (Size) The rule has changed. Today with advanced technology, knowledge is the asset and everything happens at the speed of innovation. For example, twenty years ago a megabyte of semiconductor memory cost around $550 000; today it costs around $4. Microprocessors in 2014 are 500, 000 times faster than the 1950 originals. The smartphone is more powerful than the old desktop computer. Faster, cheaper, and smaller are the new rules for this competitive technology sector. As more innovations are created, it will become clear the countries that dominate the market in the next ten years are countries that have the most talented workers.<\/p>\n
Today many countries that have fallen behind are realizing the benefits of what technology education can bring. They begin to understand that there is a correlation between the numbers of job creation and the number of college graduate in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math fields (STEM). As governments look for the best ways to improve their economic performance, they recognize that technology jobs are among the highest paying, fastest growing, and most influential in driving economic growth and innovation. Many governments have issued policy to order their education institutions to adopted rigorous science and technology standards to improve their education systems; China and India have invested in the training of more science and technology teachers as well as new teaching method to expand science and technology beyond the regular classroom. Both countries also establish goals for universities to meet industry job needs. A government officer told me: \u201cSTEM education is a powerful foundation for individual and societal economic success. We have been working hard to improve our education to ensure that we will be able to catch up with others soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
