Answer: I do not think personal computer is obsoleted yet. Today mobile is getting popular as more people are using smartphones and tablets but it does not means Microsoft and Intel will let the personal computer become like the mainframe computer. The battle for the computer market is still going on without clear winner or loser.<\/p>\n
Few years ago Microsoft was the dominant force with 95 percent of the personal computer market but things have changed. As mobiles devices are becoming more powerful and popular, Apple and Google are quickly capturing this lucrative market. However Microsoft is still strong, especially in the business world and it may take several years to know who will win this market. Few years ago, Google created Chrome operating system with the hope that it could take over the market from Windows but it had not gaining the popularity yet. Chrome platform may be popular with some students but it has not been used in the business world as most companies still prefer to use Windows.<\/p>\n
With the depart of Steve Ballmer who had no vision and did not pay attention to innovations, Microsoft\u2019s new CEO Satya Nadella has set a new vision to maintain the market position with new products such as Windows 10, and Office 365 to fight this battle. I think Microsoft already lost the browser market to Google but it still has strong operating system market as well as a dominant position with Office 365 and Azure cloud computing. However, I think the battle may not happen between Google and Microsoft but with Apple as the mobile market is clearly Apple\u2019s strong position. Apple dominates mobile and tablet market and Apple PCs have become more popular now.
