Answer: From an economic standpoint, I think college students should study Information Technology (IT) because it is an exciting area that is expanding faster than any others. There are more job opportunities than others, and the salary is much higher than others. Information technology is also a major force that drives economic growth and brings prosperity to many countries.<\/p>\n
The reason students do not select this field because they do not have enough information to make informed decision. Many students have not been taught about career planning nor have proper guidance. There are students who go to college without a career vision and education goals as they only focus on study and have not correlate what they study with what they will do in their lives. Some students are still aiming to get a degree without understand that a degree does not guarantee anything. The fact is IT courses are typically more rigorous and require more efforts than others but students can benefit by having knowledge and skills that they can use to advance their career and make a comfortable living in this competitive world.<\/p>\n
However, the major obstacle that must be overcome is not the students but the universities. Many schools do not have enough resources, qualified teachers, good curriculum, or teachers\u2019 training program to keep them up to date with technology changes. IT is a fast changing field and IT courses require both technology and advanced teacher qualifications. That is why many schools do not want to invest their efforts on IT despite the abundant of jobs available.<\/p>\n
Today college students need proper guidance and encouragement to study this practical field. Students also need qualified, enthusiastic teachers to teach them the essential knowledge and skills. A good training program is not enough; it must be combined with qualified and passionate teachers to convey the essential spirit of the most needed skills in the 21st century.
