The new era: Mobility<\/p>\n

Twenty five years ago the Internet was founded and it changed the world. Today the world is undergoing another major change due to mobile technology. Almost everything can be managed by mobile devices like smartphones and tablets. With over 3.5 billion users all over the world, smart devices are the most successful inventions in the past ten years. With the Internet and smart devices, you have everything you need within your own pocket. Want to check out a word? Your smartphone has a built-in dictionary. When travel, need to ask something in a foreign language? Your smartphone has a translator built-in too. Need to do some math? Your smartphone has a calculator built-in. Want to know about the latest news or sport events? You can read online news on your smartphone. You want to buy something fast? You can use your smartphone instead of laptop. Need to transfer money to your account? You can do it with your smartphone. Want to pay for a restaurant meal? You can use your smartphone to transfer money to the restaurant account. Need to check your blood pressure or blood glucose (if you have diabetes) you can use your own smartphone.<\/p>\n

With information technology, smart devices allow you to do many things that you do not even think of. Whatever you want to do, your smart devices can do it for you and it is only the beginning. Soon your smart devices will be shrunk into a small watch that you can wear or even be part of your clothes (Smart fabrics \u2013 Smart clothes.) that you wear every day and it will monitor your health and activities for you. Basically information technology has opened so many opportunities for people if they know how to take advantage of it. A software developer explains: \u201cThirty years ago, personal computer opened a new era and made people who worked for Apple, Microsoft and Google became very rich. Today we are at the dawn of a new mobility era and whoever seizes this opportunity will become the next Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. The problem is most universities are still focusing on teaching about PC but not mobility or smart devices and many people will miss this opportunity again. For example, in the past five years the number of mobile apps developers who became millionaires has risen to over hundred thousand. Imagine hundred thousand millionaires in the world who make money just by coding mobile apps but it could be you too if you know these technologies. My question is what happens to you? Why are you not seizing this opportunity?\u201d<\/p>\n

Technology has driven the economy of many countries and created million of new jobs in this globally connected world. In the near future more smart devices and internet of things will open more opportunities, and creating more exciting applications to everybody. The trends in wireless communication between multiple smart devices will offer smart homes, self-driven cars, smart TV, smart appliances etc. All of these will create new businesses, new products, new applications and more jobs for technical skilled workers. The questions are: Have you taking advantage of these trends? Do you have the knowledge and skills in these areas? Are you prepared to take a job in these new areas?
