New trend in business management<\/p>\n

According to a 2013 industry study, more business-school graduates are working in technology industry rather than business sectors such as banks and finance companies. The study found that a majority of HarvardBusinessSchool graduates prefer to work for Google, Amazon or Facebook than Major Banks, or Wall Street stock exchange companies. A similar situation is also happening at top business schools such as Yale, Cornell, Columbia and ChicagoUniversity, where high number of graduates are going into technology companies rather than finance or banking.<\/p>\n

A business graduate explained: \u201cEven the economy is recovering but finance and banking are still unstable. One economic event happens somewhere could pull the entire market down and everybody who are working in banks or finance could be impacted. Today there are many experienced but unemployed workers compete for the few openings, the chance for a new business graduate to get job is slim. However by taking few courses in computers, many of us can get better jobs, better salary at top technology companies like Google or Facebook. Today technology is where the entire job opening are and it offers much better salary.\u201d<\/p>\n

An industry analyst said: \u201cTen years ago, MBA was \u201chot\u201d until the financial crisis. Today the new \u201chot\u201d field is Information System Management (ISM) as more business students are taking computer courses with the hope of getting offers from Google, Facebook, Amazon and LinkedIn etc. An average entry-level MBA pay about $90,000 to $110,000 a year; the average salaries for tech jobs for graduates with a Master\u2019s degree in Software Engineer or Information System Management is roughly $98,000 to $135,000 with an additional $30,000 to $45,000 in signing bonuses and stock options guaranteed. Just look at the math, students know which is better for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Today business students are asking, “Where is the place that I can build a good career for a long time?\u201d As Finance and Banking are risky with the ups and downs due to global economy, the safest place is technology because everything is now driven by technology. With the shortage of skilled workers, it is predicted that the demand for more technology workers will last until 2025. Most U.S. universities reported that almost all graduates in technology have good job offers but graduates in business is still struggled to find work. The same situation is also happened in Europe where there are more technology jobs but few qualified workers but there is no job in banking, finance as more banks are going out of business.<\/p>\n

With more people working in technology areas, the demand for technology managers also increase fast. In the past, technology companies often dismissed business-school graduates as \u201cGood talkers\u201d but never do anything innovative but the attitude begins to change with graduates from Information System Management. These are people who have both business skills and technical skills who can help lead fast-growing technology companies in mobility, cloud computing and big data analytics. Since most major banks and financial companies have offered fewer opportunities for graduates, most U.S universities have updated their MBA programs curriculum from financial and accounting focus to new focus on information technology and the new MBA in information technology has more students enrolling.<\/p>\n

According to the report, large technology companies like Google, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, and Facebook are hiring about 40% more\u00a0M.B.A.in<\/a>\u00a0technology and ISM graduates in 2013 than it did the prior year. The simple reason, as technology companies expanding fast they will need more managers who can managing their technical workforces. Although banks, finance and stock market exchange companies still hire M.B.A. in business but the numbers are shrinking, especially in investment banking and stock exchange. Many top schools reported that only 35% of their business graduates work in these companies but most have jumped quickly into technology area. According to academic experts, this trend will change all business program trainings in the next few years and provide the technology industry with more skilled managers who have both business and technical skills.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
