According to several reports from Microsoft, Oracles and SAP, Cloud computing could generate millions of new jobs in the next five years. However, many Cloud computing companies will have problem of finding workers with the right skills as cloud computing required a new type of skills that may or may not be taught in universities. Therefore, students may want to pay attention at these skills and find way to learn them to stay ahead of the change in the industry:<\/p>\n

One of the major changes of Cloud computing is the need to have Information Technology (IT) workers who can communicate well using business language to explain technical details to customers and users. Today most IT workers who are trained in technical knowledge often do not understand the business very well and often do not have the business knowledge to talk to customers and explain to them clearly the issues as well as benefits of cloud computing. When they use technical language which are natural to them but it often confuses the customers. For cloud computing the prefer choice is hiring graduates from Information System Management (ISM) because they have both technical and business knowledge and are trained to explain technology needs and benefits to customers using business language. They understand software as a services concept, as well as revenues, costs, profits, financial statements which are the business view on how company operates. For example, they can explain how a Cloud application will remain just as secure as an in house application. How cloud computing can reduce cost, save more money and increase profits to customers. Technical students who have good soft skills may be able to work in cloud computing if they take a few business courses.<\/p>\n

Because the Cloud computing development is exploding all over the world as more companies are moving into the cloud, there is a growing need for software programmers who can code, develop and deploy an application in the cloud. The skills required are: PHP, Ruby, Ruby on rail, Java, .NET and Python. Currently most universities only teach Java so students may have to learn on their own about Ruby, Python and .NET too in order to meet the need of cloud computing company. Today, most programming jobs are entry level position which does not require a lot of experience. According to several job listing bulletin boards, Cloud computing companies are hiring a lot of college graduates in computer science, software engineering and information system management.<\/p>\n

Today smartphone is the key device used by most people, instead of laptop or desktop. Most people will mobile application to access their data stored in the cloud. Therefore mobile application developers with knowledge of IOS, Android and Window 8 are in high demand all over the world. There is a shortage of people who can develop mobile app and understand mobile security. While the industry is having no standard for managing mobile security yet, every company sets their own standard but it will change soon. This means that IT workers are expected to continue to learn and update their skills in security technologies to manage access to the cloud. Mobile security and network security are also two hot skills that are emerging.<\/p>\n

In addition to understanding how to develop Cloud applications, cloud computing workers need to understand how the entire computing system works to manage information flow. IT workers must have knowledge of human computer interaction, and system integration since many cloud computing companies need these skills to provide cloud-based integration services.
