Being a teacher<\/p>\n

Being a teacher is a choice and we all make that choice when we decide to pursue this career. As teacher, we want to influence the next generation as we were influenced by our teachers from past generation. We owned a lot to our teachers because without them, we are NOT what we are today. To repay our former teachers\u2019 gratitude, some of us decide to become teachers like them.<\/p>\n

Teaching is always a challenge profession as we have to deal with many obstacles. We must motivate the unmotivated students and help them to learn. We must spend many hours on planning lessons, preparing tests, grading students\u2019 works. We must work with large sized classes and sometime poor working conditions. We must accept a meager salary barely enough to make a living. But we still do that because we care for the students. We share our passion on learning with them and hope that they will be passionate about learning. We constantly learn new things to pass on to them because we want them to have the most current knowledge possible. Nobody would choose teaching career to make money, teaching salary is always low, regardless where you live. We select this career because we want the next generation to be better, to contribute more to our society than the previous ones. As teacher we do not just teach academic knowledge but also filliality, moral, and ethics as we want our students to think, to understand, to discover, to analyze, to integrate, to make the right decision and to be responsible for their actions.<\/p>\n

When we build relationships with students, we are building a bridge that connects one generation to another. This connection has been passed on to us from our teachers and to them from others in the past. It is our tradition; it is our heritages; it is our culture and it must continue as an unbroken connection. In this connection, we support our students\u2019 development as they learn and mature into good children to their parents, good members to their society, and good citizens to their country. In this connection, we earn their trust as students share with us their needs, their struggles, their successes, as well their failures so we can help them to overcome those difficulties. Through our guidance, students can eventually find successes in all aspects of their lives. They can use these guidances as a special skill in life to build relationships with others as they continue a tradition that exists for many generations.<\/p>\n

Helping students to learn well and provide proper guidance are our missions rooted in our teaching tradition. The method of teaching may change; the content of teaching may change but the mission to teach and influence lives never change.
