Many asked about how to pass an interview with them, so following are some advices:<\/p>\n<p>After you apply for jobs with global companies, you may have the chance to get an interview with them. Having an interview means you have about 50% chance of being hired because they already select you from thousands of applications so you must be prepared. To do well at job interview, you must know something about the company that you want to work for and the skills necessary to perform that job. Many students make the mistake of focusing on what \u201cthey think\u201d is important instead of find out what the company is actually \u201clooking for\u201d. If you know what criteria the company uses to evaluate a candidate, you will have better chance of getting the job by emphasize on that criteria. Of course, specific criteria vary from one company to another as it depends on the company\u2019s needs as well as the persons doing the interview. But there are common things that most global companies are looking for so knowing these may help you.<\/p>\n<p>The first thing they always want to know is \u201cCan you do the job?\u201d\u00a0 This question is obvious because global company wants to know if you have the knowledge and skills to do the job. The interviewer will try to figure out if you have the skills necessary for the job. They also want to know if you have the experience or the attitude that will allow you to function effectively in that position. Of course, you need to convince them, using specific examples from your educational experience such as number of technical classes that you took and assure them that you can do the job well.<\/p>\n<p>The second thing they want to know is \u201cWill you fit well with their companies\u201d or \u201cWill you be able to fit into the position that they have for you?\u201d\u00a0 As you probably know that it is not enough just to have the skills but you have to do it within the company structure. Since each company has its own unique way of doing things and certain ways of interacting among team members, the interviewer wants to know if you can fit with them. Will you be able to get along with your team members and perform well in a teamwork environment? If you can explain to them about your experience on working in team or you are familiar with the principles of teamwork then you maybe doing well already. They also want to know about your communication skill as well as your command of foreign languages. This is where you want to explain about the foreign language classes that you took and the foreign books that you read. You may not be able to speak well in a foreign language during the interview but most interviewers do understand this issue. Many students feel uncomfortable about their limited speaking ability but you must be honest and explain to them that you do not have a lot of opportunities in using a second language but you are a fast learner.<\/p>\n<p>The third thing they want to know is \u201cDo you really want to work for them? In other words, do you understand about their companies? Do you know something about them? Do you really want to work for them? This is the opportunity that you can demonstrate to them that you know something about their company. Many students failed in this question because they did not take time to learn about the company that they hope to work for. It is essential that you do some research about the company that you apply and at least know something about them because it means that you are interest in them. A vague answer means that you do not care about them and it means you are not interest in the job. Of course the company wants to know whether is it likely that you will stay on for a long period of time or whether you will work few years then change job.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of the type of company you are applying for a job, you can be sure that they want to know about your weaknesses, why do you want to work for their company, what kind of skills you can contribute to them that other applicants can not, and what kind of goals do you have set for yourself. These things will give them some information about you that they can make decision whether they want to hire you or not.<\/p>\n<p>After you politely answer their questions they want you to tell them then usually the last question would be \u201cWhy should they hire you?\u201d This is where many students feel frustrate because you already explained about your classes, your schools your degrees, your skills, your strengths, what you know about their companies, what you know about the industry then what else can you tell them?\u00a0 Do NOT fell into this trap, this is a typical question to test your reaction. The trick is everyone who interviewed for the job answered those same questions and probably answered them well so this question is really about how to separate you from others. This last question is much more than a simple question. It is an opportunity for you to distinguish yourself from other candidates.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, the interviewer give you another chance to explain what you can bring to the company, and how you will be a valuable, productive employee and that is what they want you to tell them. The most important is the answer should not about you (They already know) but about how you can help them. If they hire you, give you good salary, benefits, trainings but what are you offering them. This is where many students failed because they are not prepare to deal with \u201copen-ended question\u201d. If you talk too much about you then you may not pass this test and if you confuse and rambling incoherently about the potential then you may not get the job either. The best way to do is to practice and be prepared. You must stay focus on your strengths and make the answer conversational by giving examples. For example: \u201cI am always willing to do more than the job require, in the capstone project in school, I do this extra things \u2026. (Give example)\u201d or \u201cMy professor told me that my leadership put me above others, as the leader of my class I led several activities such as (Give examples)\u201d. You must prepare your answers by giving examples what you did in and out of classroom and describe how they make you a valuable member of their team. There are many answer to this questions so your answer must be unique, sincere that reflect your personality, your skills and your style. You need to prepare for this kind of answer by practice them with your friends, your school advisors so you can come up with clear, concise answers.
