Overall, this strategy has been very effective and has resulted in increasing demand for information technology workers. However, there is a critical shortage of these workers across all developed countries. To fill the gap, many countries issued special immigration laws allowing skilled workers from other countries to enter and work to meet their growing demands.<\/p>\n<p>Developing countries urgently need these workers to remain in their countries so they can improve their economies but many do not know how to actively preventing the mass exit of their skilled workers. One of the best solutions is promoting the developing of the &#8220;Outsourcing industry&#8221; where skilled people can work for foreign companies but remain in their countries so both sides can benefit. This is where India has been very successful in the past ten years.<\/p>\n<p>In the beginning, most jobs that were moved to India were considered low-skill tasks like programming and testing but that has been changing. As workers there learned high level skills such as architecture and design, banking and financial support, aircraft engineering and pharmaceutical research, higher level works have begun flowing to India. Today, aerospace companies such as Boeing and Airbus are employing thousands Indians in challenging works like writing software for aviation cockpits and building systems to prevent airborne collisions. Investment banks like Morgan Stanley are hiring thousands Indians to analyze the global stocks markets, jobs that commonly pay over hundred thousands dollars salary on Wall Street. Pharmaceutical company like Eli Lilly recently handed over several research patents to Indian companies to manufacture drugs for commercial use because these kind of work would be significantly costly if done in the U.S and Europe.<\/p>\n<p>According to several studies, in the past ten years, global companies are employing millions highly skilled Indians to work in India. This has created in excess of hundreds millions additional jobs to support the fast growing outsourcing industry and improve India GDP over 25%. The success also allows many companies to treat India like a second headquarters, sending senior executives to work there. For example, Cisco Systems has decided that 20 percent of its workforce should be in India within the next five years; it recently moved one of its highest-ranking executives, Wim Elfrink, to Bangalore to act as chief globalization officer. Accenture, the global consulting giant, also has its worldwide executive to work in Bangalore as it already has more employees in India than in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>In many ways, these factors reflect a changing view at global companies as they find it easier to meet growing demand by taking advantage of the knowledge and skills of educated people in the developing world. As Indian workers become more skillful, many western companies are finding that large parts of their work, even high-level tasks, can also be done in India. According to Michael J.Brookes, vice president of IBM &#8220;Today India is at the center of the flat world,&#8221; who in the past year has hired over 60,000 workers in India despite the economy recession.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, the flow of works to India suddenly ran into several major problems: The slowness to improve its educational system and infrastructures. Today water and power shortages are endemic in India; this already halted several manufacturing outsourcing works there. There is a critical shortage of skilled workers in information technology as universities could not produce enough workers to meet the high demand and government predicted that India will need additional 500,000 software engineers each year to meet the growing demand. However the problems in India open more opportunities to other countries such as China, Brazil, and Eastern Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The increasing interest of Western companies to hired skilled workers has created significant competitions among other countries such as China, Brazil, and Mexico. Dr. Blinder, who teaches at Princeton University comment on the shift in Western job to developing countries: &#8220;We have so far barely seen the tip of the off shoring iceberg, in the near future many western countries would send more jobs like accounting, finance, software development and manufacturing to other countries because it is much easier and cheaper to do it outside the U.S and Europe unless certain kinds jobs can not be outsourced and must be done in person like nursing, doctors, lawyers or healthcare workers etc. Globalization will definitely change everything and create more opportunities to developing countries, if they know how to take advantage of it.
