Ng\u01b0\u1eddi b\u1ea1n Trung Qu\u1ed1c \u0111\u1ed3ng \u00fd: \u201cCh\u00fang t\u00f4i c\u00f3 th\u1ec3 \u0111\u1ee9ng sau \u1ea4n \u0110\u1ed9 trong c\u00f4ng ngh\u1ec7 th\u00f4ng tin nh\u01b0ng ch\u00fang t\u00f4i \u0111ang \u0111u\u1ed5i k\u1ecbp. Ng\u01b0\u1eddi b\u1ea1n \u1ea4n \u0110\u1ed9 n\u00f3i: \u201c\u0110\u00e2y c\u00f3 l\u1ebd l\u00e0 ngh\u1ec1 CNTT t\u1ed1t nh\u1ea5t, \u0111\u01b0\u1ee3c mong mu\u1ed1n nh\u1ea5t v\u1edbi l\u01b0\u01a1ng cao nh\u1ea5t trong m\u1ecdi ngh\u1ec1 CNTT. V\u1edbi nhi\u1ec1u v\u1ea5n \u0111\u1ec1 th\u1ebf \u0111ang x\u1ea3y ra t\u1eeb c\u00e1c cu\u1ed9c t\u1ea5n c\u00f4ng xi be cho t\u1edbi c\u00e1c h\u1eafc kh\u00e1ch g\u1eedi vi r\u00fat t\u1edbi h\u1ec7 th\u1ed1ng th\u00f4ng tin c\u1ee7a c\u00f4ng tin, m\u1ecdi c\u00f4ng ti \u0111\u1ec1u c\u1ea7n ng\u01b0\u1eddi c\u00f3 k\u0129 n\u0103ng an ninh CNTT. Ngay c\u1ea3 ch\u00ednh ph\u1ee7 c\u1ee7a ch\u00fang t\u00f4i c\u0169ng ph\u1ea3i th\u00f4ng qua th\u00eam c\u00e1c lu\u1eadt v\u00e0 qui ch\u1ebf v\u1ec1 ch\u1ee7 \u0111\u1ec1 n\u00e0y nh\u01b0ng n\u1ed7i s\u1ee3 th\u01b0\u1eddng xuy\u00ean v\u1ec1 c\u00e1c \u0111e do\u1ea1 t\u0103ng l\u00ean v\u00e0 nhu c\u1ea7u c\u1ee7a kh\u00e1ch h\u00e0ng l\u00e0m cho k\u0129 n\u0103ng n\u00e0y tr\u1edf th\u00e0nh \u0111\u01b0\u1ee3c c\u1ea7n t\u1edbi nhi\u1ec1u nh\u1ea5t ng\u00e0y nay. Kh\u00f4ng may l\u00e0 r\u1ea5t \u00edt \u0111\u1ea1i h\u1ecdc d\u1ea1y v\u1ec1 k\u0129 n\u0103ng n\u00e0y, ngay c\u1ea3 \u1edf M\u0129 c\u0169ng ch\u1ec9 v\u00e0i \u0111\u1ea1i h\u1ecdc c\u00f3 m\u00f4n h\u1ecdc an ninh trong ch\u01b0\u01a1ng tr\u00ecnh c\u1ee7a h\u1ecd.”<\/p>\n

Ng\u01b0\u1eddi b\u1ea1n Trung Qu\u1ed1c \u0111\u1ed3ng \u00fd: \u201cT\u00f4i ngh\u0129 b\u1eaft \u0111\u1ea7u t\u1eeb n\u0103m nay, nhi\u1ec1u c\u00f4ng ti s\u1ebd ph\u1ea3i h\u1ed9i t\u1ee5 v\u00e0o vi\u1ec7c tuy\u1ec3n m\u1ed9, \u0111\u00e0o t\u1ea1o v\u1ec1 an ninh CNTT, c\u00f4ng nghi\u1ec7p kh\u00f4ng th\u1ec3 \u0111\u1ea3m \u0111\u01b0\u01a1ng \u0111\u01b0\u1ee3c vi\u1ec7c b\u1ecf qua v\u1ea5n \u0111\u1ec1 n\u00e0y. \u0110i\u1ec1u ch\u00fang ta c\u1ea7n l\u00e0 thu\u00ea nhi\u1ec1u ng\u01b0\u1eddi CNTT ngay l\u1eadp t\u1ee9c. M\u1eb7c cho kh\u1ee7ng ho\u1ea3ng t\u00e0i ch\u00ednh th\u00e1ch th\u1ee9c nhi\u1ec1u c\u00f4ng ti, nh\u1eefng ng\u01b0\u1eddi ch\u1ecdn b\u1ecf qua v\u1ea5n \u0111\u1ec1 n\u00e0y \u0111ang l\u00e0m nh\u01b0 v\u1eady m\u1ed9t c\u00e1ch li\u1ec1u m\u1ea1ng. V\u1ea5n \u0111\u1ec1 l\u00e0 ng\u00e0y nay ch\u00fang t\u00f4i ph\u1ea3i g\u1eedi sinh vi\u00ean sang M\u0129 b\u1edfi v\u00ec c\u00f3 r\u1ea5t \u00edt ch\u1ed7 d\u1ea1y v\u1ec1 k\u0129 n\u0103ng n\u00e0y. T\u1ea5t nhi\u00ean, tr\u01b0\u1eddng c\u1ee7a \u00f4ng – Carnegie Mellon l\u00e0 n\u1ed5i ti\u1ebfng nh\u1ea5t v\u1ec1 l\u0129nh v\u1ef1c n\u00e0y cho n\u00ean \u00f4ng ph\u1ea3i bi\u1ebft v\u1ec1 \u0111i\u1ec1u \u0111\u00f3.\u201d<\/p>\n

T\u00f4i b\u1ea3o h\u1ecd r\u1eb1ng an ninh CNGTT \u0111\u00e3 l\u00e0 m\u1ed9t ph\u1ea7n c\u1ee7a ch\u01b0\u01a1ng tr\u00ecnh \u0111\u00e0o t\u1ea1o c\u1ee7a ch\u00fang t\u00f4i v\u1ec1 k\u0129 ngh\u1ec7 ph\u1ea7n m\u1ec1m v\u00e0 qu\u1ea3n l\u00ed h\u1ec7 th\u00f4ng tin v\u1edbi nhi\u1ec1u m\u00f4n h\u1ecdc v\u1ec1 an ninh m\u1ea1ng v\u00e0 qu\u1ea3n l\u00ed r\u1ee7i ro. D\u1ef1a tr\u00ean cu\u1ed9c \u0111\u1ed1i tho\u1ea1i n\u00e0y, t\u00f4i ngh\u0129 do t\u1ea7m quan tr\u1ecdng c\u1ee7a k\u0129 n\u0103ng n\u00e0y v\u00e0 c\u00e1c c\u01a1 h\u1ed9i ngh\u1ec1 nghi\u1ec7p l\u00e2u d\u00e0i n\u00ean \u0111\u1ed9ng vi\u00ean nhi\u1ec1u sinh vi\u00ean nh\u00ecn v\u00e0o trong khu v\u1ef1c n\u00e0y. Ng\u01b0\u1eddi b\u1ea1n Trung Qu\u1ed1c \u0111\u00e1p: \u201cC\u00f3 l\u1ebd k\u0129 n\u0103ng trong thi\u1ebft b\u1ecb di \u0111\u1ed9ng t\u1eeb thi\u1ebft k\u1ebf chip t\u1edbi qu\u1ea3n l\u00ed \u1ee9ng d\u1ee5ng ph\u1ea7n m\u1ec1m. T\u00f4i ngh\u0129 vi\u1ec7c d\u00f9ng n\u1ec1n di \u0111\u1ed9ng s\u1ebd v\u01b0\u1ee3t tr\u1ed9i h\u01a1n m\u00e1y t\u00ednh c\u00e1 nh\u00e2n v\u1ec1 s\u1ed1 ng\u01b0\u1eddi d\u00f9ng, s\u1ed1 thi\u1ebft b\u1ecb truy nh\u1eadp Internet. Trong nhi\u1ec1u n\u0103m, m\u00e1y t\u00ednh c\u00e1 nh\u00e2n (PC) l\u00e0 vua nh\u01b0ng ch\u00fang t\u00f4i tin \u0111i\u1ec1u l\u1edbn lao s\u1eafp t\u1edbi s\u1ebd l\u00e0 thi\u1ebft b\u1ecb di \u0111\u1ed9ng nh\u01b0 \u0111i\u1ec7n tho\u1ea1i th\u00f4ng minh (nh\u01b0, I-phone, I-pad v.v.) v\u00ec c\u00e1c s\u1ea3n ph\u1ea9m n\u00e0y ti\u1ebfp t\u1ee5c ch\u00edn mu\u1ed3i v\u00e0 t\u00ecm ra c\u00e1ch c\u1ee7a ch\u00fang trong ng\u01b0\u1eddi ti\u00eau th\u1ee5 v\u00e0 c\u00e1c c\u00f4ng ti. S\u1ebd c\u00f3 b\u00f9ng n\u1ed5 \u1ee9ng d\u1ee5ng, \u0111i\u1ec1u m\u1edf ra nh\u1eefng c\u01a1 h\u1ed9i m\u1edbi cho nh\u1eefng ng\u01b0\u1eddi chuy\u00ean m\u00f4n trong n\u1ec1n di \u0111\u1ed9ng. Ch\u00fang t\u00f4i tin r\u1eb1ng trong v\u00e0i n\u0103m t\u1edbi, c\u00e1c thi\u1ebft b\u1ecb n\u00e0y s\u1ebd thay th\u1ebf m\u00e1y t\u00ednh c\u00e1 nh\u00e2n nh\u01b0 c\u00f4ng c\u1ee5 ch\u1ecdn l\u1ef1a. Conversation with friends<\/p>\n

Last week, I had dinner with two best friends in Shanghai. One is a senior manager of a very large companies in India and the other is a professor of a well known university in China. I wanted to ask some questions about the current technology trends so I told them: \u201cAccording to the research firm IDC, in the next five years most developed countries may grow about 3% to 5% but emerging countries (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) could achieve 8% to 15% growth and this will change the economic balance of global power. One of the fastest growing sectors is information technology but there is a critical shortage of skilled worker in this field globally and that is a major problem for these emerging countries. As the information technology industry continues to improve, companies that have a need for skilled people will have difficulty hiring for particular skills and eventually have to obtain the needed skills by bring in workers from oversea or by outsource to foreign countries. It is hard to imagine that countries like China and India do NOT have enough IT people to support their economy growth and have to outsource or bring in outside workers, so I want to know if this issue is real or not?<\/p>\n

My Indian friend answered: \u201cIt is NOT that we need programmers, we have plenty of them but we do NOT have enough highly specialized skilled people such as architect, designers and information system managers. Even our education system is improving but it takes time to develop these people. I am sure we will have these needed skills someday but in the next three to five years, we will NOT have enough skilled people to support our economic growth. We do run out of highly skilled people because of our success in outsourcing where demand exceeds supply.<\/p>\n

My friend in China agreed: \u201cWe maybe behind India in Information technology but we are catching up. In past years, we have put a lot of investments in infrastructures and hardwares but NOT pay attention to software and this is a mistake. Actually we did not realize that it is software that drives everything and changes everything. We are changing our direction now and focusing more on software. The problem is our education systems are NOT changing fast enough, Even our government has invested significant amount in education, we have brought in several top curricula from the U.S and European universities to replace our \u201cArchaic systems\u201d but to be the best, we need good professors and it will take many years to develop them. No matter what we do, it will probably take another five to ten years to get our education system to catch up with the U.S\u201d.<\/p>\n

I asked them: \u201cWhat are the skills that you need most today? What surprise me is both of them told me that IT security is one of the areas that remained very high in demand. My friend in India said: \u201cThis is probably the best IT job, the most wanted with the highest salary of all IT jobs. With so many problems happening from cyber-attacks to hackers send virus to company\u2019s information systems, every company needs IT security skilled people. Even our government passes more laws and regulations on this subject but constant fear of increasing threats and customer demands make this skills the most needed today. Unfortunately, very few universities teach this skill, even in the U.S only few universities have security courses in their program.<\/p>\n

My friend in China agreed: \u201cI think beginning this year, many companies will have to focus more on recruiting, training on IT security, the industry can no longer afford to ignore this issue. What we need is hiring more IT security people immediately. Despite the financial crisis that challenges many companies, those who choose to ignore this issue do so at their own peril. The problem is today we have to send students to the U.S because there are very few places teaching this skills. Of course, your school – Carnegie Mellon is the most well known in this field so you should know about it\u201d.<\/p>\n

I told them that IT security is already part of our training program for Software Engineering and Information System Management with many courses in network security and risk management. Based on this conversation, I think the importance of this skill and the long-term career opportunities should motivate many students to look into this area. I asked them: \u201cWhat else beside IT security skills that you think will be needed?<\/p>\n

My Chinese friend answered: \u201cProbably skills in mobile devices from chip design to software applications management. I think the use of mobile platform will surpass that of Personal Computer in the number of users, the number of devices accessing the Internet. For years, the personal computer (PC) is king but we believe the next big thing will be mobile devices such as the smart phones (i.e., I-phone, I-pad etc.) as these products continue to mature and find their way into consumers and corporations. There will be an explosion of applications which open more opportunities for people specialize in mobile platforms. We believe that in the next few years, these devices will replace the personal computer as the tool of choice. Today the market belongs to Apple but there will be more similar devices come to the market soon and the key issue will be how companies manage an increasingly diverse mobile platforms that meets security requirements. This is the issue of Information System management people as we will need more people who can manage information systems for the company, provide IT services to users, explain technical issues to non-technical people and ensure that information technology provides value to the business.<\/p>\n

My Indian friend told me: \u201cI think knowledge and skill in cloud computing would probably be more important. With the financial crisis, companies must reduce costs, especially IT costs such as infrastructure and storage so driven by these economic motivations and benefits of renting instead of buying, cloud computing management would be critical in the near future. As cloud computing evolves, industry will need more information systems managers to manage interoperability between cloud computing platforms. These people will monitoring and keeping pace with the trends in cloud computing development for their companies. Of course, due to the rise in cloud computing usage and the changing natures of these technologies, companies needs to have very strong IT management that can manage, implement and provide them as services because cloud computing is another aspect of Software as a Services.<\/p>\n

Both of them told me that knowledge and skills will be key factors for their countries\u2019 economic growth and investment in education, especially in Information technology is the main focus that can change the balance of economic power in the near future.
