CMU as new Ivies<\/p>\n

The U.S Higher Education is considered one of the best education systems in the world. Among the best U.S universities are: Harvard University, Princeton University, Yale University, Cornell University, Columbia University, Brown University, Dartmouth College and University of Pennsylvania. These eight schools share a common name called \u201cThe ivy League\u201d.\u00a0 The Ivy League term has a reputation of academic excellence, selectivity in admissions, and social elitism. Originally, this term come from a sports terminology in 1954 when these schools were also excellent in college sport. However, the use of the term is no longer limited to athletics, and now represents an educational philosophy inherent to the U.S top schools. In addition, Ivy League schools are often viewed by the public as some of the most prestigious universities worldwide and are often ranked among the best universities in the world.<\/p>\n

Last month, Unigo a public survey company conducted a college reviews based on\u00a0 more than 30,000 students at 225 colleges for their opinions about their own schools and which school that they wish that they could attend. The result was a big surprise as most students voted for a list of schools as their \u201cpreferred schools\u201d and many were not on the Ivy League list. The people at Unigo created another names for these top schools as the \u201cNew Ivies\u201d. Paul Hoffman, an editor wrote:\u201dAlthough the Ivy League schools are still the best but there are many schools that could compete with them because they are more in tune with the social and technology changes, have better education programs, better relationship with the industry so students wish that they could go to these \u201cNew Ivies\u201d rather than the traditional \u201cIvy Leagues\u201d.<\/p>\n

On top of these \u201cNew Ivies\u201d is Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) as the best school to go to and the school that every technical people wish that they could attend. One student wrote about CMU as \u201ca place when you walk in smart but you walk out smarter, and you learn all you can\u201d. According to the College Placement report, CMU is also the preferred school of the technology industry where their students earn the highest salary among other college in the U.S and best school for recruiting. Typically, technology industry managers start to offer jobs to CMU students nine months before they are graduating, usually in September when school starts.<\/p>\n
