T\u00f4i chia s\u1ebb c\u00f9ng h\u1ecd m\u1ed9t s\u1ed1 \u00fd ngh\u0129 c\u1ee7a t\u00f4i m\u00e0 t\u00f4i tin nh\u1eefng \u0111i\u1ec1u n\u00e0y c\u00f3 th\u1ec3 x\u1ea3y ra trong t\u01b0\u01a1ng lai g\u1ea7n:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Nhi\u1ec1u n\u0103m tr\u01b0\u1edbc, ph\u1ea7n l\u1edbn nh\u1eefng ng\u01b0\u1eddi l\u00e3nh \u0111\u1ea1o doanh nghi\u1ec7p \u0111\u00e3 coi c\u00f4ng ngh\u1ec7 th\u00f4ng tin (CNTT) nh\u01b0 ch\u1ee9c n\u0103ng h\u1ed7 tr\u1ee3 k\u0129 thu\u1eadt. Ng\u00e0y nay, h\u1ecd nh\u00ecn CNTT v\u1edbi ch\u1ee9c n\u0103ng chi\u1ebfn l\u01b0\u1ee3c c\u00f3 th\u1ec3 \u0111em t\u1edbi hi\u1ec7u qu\u1ea3, canh t\u00e2n, gi\u00e1 tr\u1ecb b\u1eb1ng vi\u1ec7c gi\u00fap cho h\u1ecd \u0111\u1eb7t \u01b0u ti\u00ean, gi\u1ea3m chi ph\u00ed, chuy\u1ec3n giao s\u1ea3n ph\u1ea9m nhanh h\u01a1n, t\u0103ng thu nh\u1eadp, v\u00e0 th\u00e2u t\u00f3m th\u1ecb ph\u1ea7n. Kh\u00f4ng may nhi\u1ec1u \u0111\u1ea1i h\u1ecdc v\u1eabn coi CNTT l\u00e0 &#8220;ch\u01b0\u01a1ng tr\u00ecnh k\u0129 thu\u1eadt&#8221; \u0111\u1ec3 \u0111\u00e0o t\u1ea1o c\u00f4ng nh\u00e2n k\u0129 thu\u1eadt thay v\u00ec &#8220;ch\u01b0\u01a1ng tr\u00ecnh doanh nghi\u1ec7p&#8221; \u0111\u1ec3 \u0111\u00e0o t\u1ea1o ng\u01b0\u1eddi qu\u1ea3n l\u00ed doanh nghi\u1ec7p. V\u00ec CNTT tr\u1edf n\u00ean quan tr\u1ecdng v\u1ec1 chi\u1ebfn l\u01b0\u1ee3c h\u01a1n trong c\u00f4ng nghi\u1ec7p, ch\u01b0\u01a1ng tr\u00ecnh \u0111\u00e0o t\u1ea1o ph\u1ea3i thay \u0111\u1ed5i \u0111\u1ec3 \u0111\u00e1p \u1ee9ng cho nhu c\u1ea7u doanh nghi\u1ec7p n\u00e0y. V\u00ec c\u00f3 th\u1ec3 m\u1ea5t th\u1eddi gian l\u00e2u cho \u0111\u1ea1i h\u1ecdc thay \u0111\u1ed5i, t\u00f4i khuy\u00ean c\u00e1c sinh vi\u00ean c\u1ea3i ti\u1ebfn tri th\u1ee9c ri\u00eang c\u1ee7a h\u1ecd b\u1eb1ng c\u00e1c m\u00f4n h\u1ecdc ph\u1ee5. T\u00f4i tin sinh vi\u00ean CNTT, d\u00f9 b\u1ea1n h\u1ecdc trong khoa h\u1ecdc m\u00e1y t\u00ednh hay k\u0129 ngh\u1ec7 ph\u1ea7n m\u1ec1m \u0111\u1ec1u n\u00ean h\u1ecdc th\u00eam c\u00e1c m\u00f4n doanh nghi\u1ec7p ph\u1ee5 \u0111\u1ec3 l\u00e0m m\u1ea1nh th\u00eam cho k\u0129 n\u0103ng c\u1ee7a b\u1ea1n v\u00e0 l\u00e0m cho b\u1ea3n th\u00e2n b\u1ea1n c\u00f3 t\u00ednh c\u1ea1nh tranh h\u01a1n trong th\u1ecb tr\u01b0\u1eddng vi\u1ec7c l\u00e0m. B\u1ea1n n\u00ean h\u1ecdc th\u00eam v\u1ec1 cam k\u1ebft doanh nghi\u1ec7p, gi\u00f3ng th\u1eb3ng chi\u1ebfn l\u01b0\u1ee3c, v\u00e0 c\u00e1ch CNTT c\u00f3 th\u1ec3 l\u00e0 m\u1ed9t ph\u1ea7n c\u1ee7a doanh nghi\u1ec7p. V\u1edbi thay \u0111\u1ed5i nhanh theo h\u01b0\u1edbng CNTT \u0111\u01b0\u1ee3c chuy\u1ec3n giao nh\u01b0 d\u1ecbch v\u1ee5 (Ph\u1ea7n m\u1ec1m nh\u01b0 d\u1ecbch v\u1ee5 &#8211; Software as a Service) nh\u01b0 t\u00ednh to\u00e1n m\u00e2y v\u00e0 h\u1ec7 th\u1ed1ng ph\u00e2n b\u1ed1 h\u01a1n, \u01b0u th\u1ebf then ch\u1ed1t kh\u00f4ng c\u00f2n \u1edf trong m\u1ed9t m\u00ecnh khu v\u1ef1c c\u00f4ng ngh\u1ec7 m\u00e0 trong qu\u1ea3n l\u00ed d\u1ecbch v\u1ee5 n\u01a1i c\u00f4ng ti qu\u1ea3n l\u00ed thay \u0111\u1ed5i, t\u00edch h\u1ee3p d\u1ecbch v\u1ee5 c\u1ee7a n\u00f3, \u0111\u00e1p \u1ee9ng nhu c\u1ea7u c\u1ee7a kh\u00e1ch h\u00e0ng, v\u00e0 l\u1ea5y \u01b0u th\u1ebf c\u1ee7a d\u1ecbch v\u1ee5 n\u00f3 sinh ra. Nh\u1eefng \u0111i\u1ec1u n\u00e0y s\u1ebd l\u00e0 k\u0129 n\u0103ng m\u1edbi m\u00e0 m\u1ecdi sinh vi\u00ean CNTT ph\u1ea3i bi\u1ebft.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00f4i tin r\u1eb1ng v\u1edbi to\u00e0n c\u1ea7u ho\u00e1, nhu c\u1ea7u v\u1ec1 c\u00f4ng ngh\u1ec7 th\u00f4ng tin s\u1ebd t\u0103ng tr\u01b0\u1edfng nhanh ch\u00f3ng khi nhi\u1ec1u th\u00f4ng tin v\u00e0 d\u1eef li\u1ec7u doanh nghi\u1ec7p l\u00e0 c\u00f3 s\u1eb5n. I share with them some of my thoughts that I believe these may happen in the near future:<\/p>\n<p>Several years ago, most business leaders considered Information Technology (IT) as a technical support function. Today, they look at IT as the strategic business function that could bring efficiency, innovations, values by help them set priorities, reducing costs, deliver products faster, increase revenues, and capture market share. Unfortunately, many universities are still considering IT as a \u201ctechnical program\u201d to train technical workers instead of \u201cbusiness program\u201d to train business managers. As IT is becoming\u00a0more strategic importance in the industry, training program must change to meet this business need. Since it may take a long time for university to change, I recommend students to improve their own knowledge by taking additional courses. I believe IT students, whether you are in computer science or software engineering should take additional business courses to strengthen your skills and make yourselves more competitive in the job market. You should learn more\u00a0about\u00a0business engagement, strategy alignment, and how IT can be part of the business. With the fast changing in direction of IT delivered as a service (Software as a Service) such as cloud computing and more distributing systems, the key advantage is no longer in the technology area alone but in service management where company manages change, integrates its service, meet customers\u2019 demands, and take advantage of the services it generates. These will be the new skills that every IT students must know.<\/p>\n<p>I believe that with globalization, the demand for information technology will grow quickly as more business information and data are available. As a result, innovation, marketing, sales, customer service must utilize IT to maximize opportunities by capture, integrate, and interpret these information for management to make decision. Today all companies are facing tremendous pressure to change because there are so many competitions. I have seen many business collapsed because they do not know how to control the outcomes in a global market. I have seen so many people got laid-off because they do not possess the right skills. I have seen many graduates could not find jobs because they do not have the right knowledge, and I have seen many company owners struggle to find the next market. All of that can be attributed to the \u201ctoo slow to change in a fast changing world\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The need for efficiency for better profits will force all businesses to rely more on IT function to make things faster, better and cheaper. Technology will be used as part of business services as the IT function merges into the business alongside other functions. In the near future, company will not develop IT applications in one place but in many places, across the world, where they can find skilled workers. There will be more technologies for collaboration, business intelligence, and customer interface because strong companies will expand across the globe for new markets, new opportunities and most national companies will become global companies or transnational companies. For this change, traditional manager style will become obsolete but a new generation of business manager will emerge with significant technology knowledge. These new business leaders understand advanced technology, they know how to gain leadership through technology because they have access to unprecedented technology knowledge and expertise.<\/p>\n<p>As IT roles move to business services, it will evolve into business leaders roles and I would not be surprised that in the near future, many company presidents or Chief Executive Officers (CEO) will come from the IT field instead of the business field. In the near future, most application development such as programming and testing will be completely outsourced to reduce costs and the scope of the IT function will be more focus on strategy, architecture, risk, program management, user support, relationship and service management.<\/p>\n<p>I believe organizations that do not make these changes will be left behind. Many will struggle to survive and overtime most will cease to exist. Globalization will continue to change every business as each country will try to exploit technology to take advantage of others. The future advantage is no longer about natural resources, no longer about military strength, no longer about capital but everything will be about technology. The country that has the most advanced technology and strongest skilled workers will dominate. Let\u2019s look at some facts: Today Brazil is the only country that do NOT depend on oil import, their economy is growing very fast and the financial crisis has no impact on them. Why? Because they use their own technology for their transportation which is sugarcane. They are able to use their own resource, which is sugarcane, to produce synthetic gas instead of depending on oil import. So regardless of oil price goes up, where countries highly depend on oil such as the U.S and China must take dramatic actions, Brazil just keep growing its economy despite the oil price. There is notion about the military strength advantage but I think the next war will not be won by bomb and ammunitions but it would be a cyber war where countries fighting each other via computer malwares and viruses. Basically, the 21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0century will NOT be a century of physical things like the 20<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0century but it will be based mostly on technology because whether we like it or not, we all moving toward a global society where knowledge and skills are the key assets.<\/p>\n<p>For IT students, the future poses tremendous risk and opportunity. Those who do not know how to adapt to the changing global demand will face dire consequence and may have difficulty in finding works. But the opportunity is significant to those who know how to seize the moment. By preparing and improve their knowledge and skills, by taking additional courses, they are ready for new challenge as it comes.
