    Women in High technology<\/p>\n

    The high technology world is changing very fast. Not long ago, it was dominated by men but now as more women are studying technology, the industry is under significant change. According to the latest study, project managers who are women had much better success rate than men and many top positions are now being managed by women. Following are few women who are the most influencers of the industry today:<\/p>\n

    1. Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Facebook: Sheryl has worked at Google and the World Bank before joining Facebook. She advocates that more women should select high technology careers as there are so many opportunities there than other careers.<\/li>\n
    2. Mitchell Baker, Senior Manager of Mozilla: As the leader of the Mozilla Project, Mitchell is responsible for organizing and managing the worldwide collective of employees and volunteers who work every day on Firefox, Thunderbird and other Mozilla products used by millions of people around the world. In a recent interview, she said: \u201cThere were time when people look at me as if I was crazy, being a woman in the man\u2019s world. However, I have been right and often enough that today no one challenge my decision anymore\u201d.<\/li>\n
    3. Carol Bartz, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yahoo: As the most powerful executive at Yahoo, Carol Bartz has an outstanding career at Autodesk and Sun Microsystems before joining Yahoo. She said: “Most people assume that because I’m a woman, I’m someone who’s standing behind a leader, a man, but the fact that they’re misunderstood is their problem, not mine\u201d<\/li>\n
    4. Marissa Mayer, Vice President of Google: She was the first female software engineer hired at Google when the company has only 20 employees. Since then she become vice president, responsible for designing and developing Google’s search interface and internationalizing the site to more than 100 languages. She told Newsweek magazine: \u201cI love technology, and I don’t think it’s something that should divide along gender lines. One of the things I care a lot about is to show young girls that you can like the things that girls like, but you can also be really good at technology too.”<\/li>\n
    5. Sue Gardner, Executive Editor of Wikimedia Foundation: Sue Gardner oversees Wikipedia, the global resource with more than 14 million volunteer-authored articles in over 250 languages. Since joining the foundation in 2007, Gardner has more than tripled revenues, helped increase global readership by 85 percent and instituted a variety of new projects and activities.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Today, of course there are countless other women who contribute to information technology and make the industry better every day. In the U.S. the number of women attending college has by-pass men (58% women vs. 42% men). The number of women in Information System Management also by-pass men (65% women vs. 35% men) but Computer Science and Software Engineering are still dominated by men (82% men vs.18% women).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
