I have several interviews but no job offer. I feel miserable and have no idea of what to do now. I know that my country still has a recession and it is difficult to get job but as you often wrote \u201cThere is a shortage of skilled people, especially in the technology area\u201d. I do not know where can I find a job? I am a good student and graduate from a good school. I do read technical articles to stay current with technology changes and taking additional courses in \u201csoft-skills\u201d. I do not know what I can do better to get a good job. Please help\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Answer: It seems to me that the problem is not about the recession or the lack of job in your country. The evidence is that you have several job interviews means software companies are still hiring people. Since you have the degree from a good school but cannot find job after several months than the problem is probably with your job interviews. Maybe you cannot convince hiring companies that you are the right person that they should hire. In other word, if your job interviews do not bring result, you need to look at the reason why you have not been hired. My questions are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do you conduct yourself appropriately during interviews?<\/li>\n<li>Do you really prepare for the interviews? Are you nervous or calm during the interviews?<\/li>\n<li>Do you know something about companies that interview you? Do you know their needs? Do you know what they are looking for?<\/li>\n<li>Do you listen carefully and answer questions clearly during the interviews? Or do employees see someone who talk too much and not answer directly on what they ask?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have a good conversation with the people you meet? Or do employees see someone who are very quiet and only answer their questions? Remember people only hire people that they like.<\/li>\n<li>Do you represent yourself in a consistent way throughout the interviews? Or do employers see inconsistency in the way you explain things?<\/li>\n<li>Do you understand what the employer\u2019s needs? Or do employees see a mismatch in what you have and what they need?<\/li>\n<li>Do you express confidence and honesty during the interview? Employees hire people who seems confidence with integrity.<\/li>\n<li>Do you ask any questions about their company? Do employers know that you are interested in their company and want to work for them?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By answering these questions, you may know some of your strengths and weaknesses during the interview. My last question is: Do you have a plan to improve your interview techniques to help you get what you want? If you are not sure what the problem is or how to fix it, you may need to work with someone who can help. You should contact a counselor from your school to help you. Remember that getting a job is more than having a right degree or the right school.
