Investing in technologies, such as information technology, biotechnology, robotics, and nanotechnology, will support the creation of good jobs by helping U.S. manufacturers reduce costs, improve quality, and accelerate product development.<\/p>\n<p>The President said U.S government will invest more than $500 million this year to start this effort. He believes that by invest more in technology education, the U.S will be able to maintain its position and continue in the future. Investments will be made in the following key areas: Next-generation robotics to increase efficiency of manufacturing processes; Advancing biotechnology and developing new drugs and treatments; and Engineering technologies that will dramatically reduce the time required to design, build, manufactured goods. He said: \u201cToday, I\u2019m calling for all of us to come together- private sector industry, universities, and the government to spark a new renaissance in American manufacturing to develop the cutting-edge technologies to compete with anyone in the world, with these key investments, we can ensure that the United States remains a nation that \u2018invents it here and manufactures it here\u2019 and creates high-quality, good paying jobs for American workers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are six universities selected by the U.S Government to lead this effort: The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Carnegie Mellon University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Stanford University, University of California-Berkeley, and University of Michigan. There are 10 manufacturers will initially involved in this efforts: Allegheny Technologies, Caterpillar, Corning, Dow Chemical, Ford, Honeywell, Intel, Johnson and Johnson, Northrop Grumman, and Procter and Gamble.<\/p>\n<p>To launch the AMP, the President today announced a number of key steps to completely automate many U.S. manufacturing systems to transform them for effective, and energy efficient. By using the next generation robots that will work closely with human operators allowing new ability for factory workers, healthcare workers, scientists, and soldiers to carry out hard to do tasks. Many people believe that when this manufacturing automation completed, the cost advantage of outsourcing will be eliminated and the U.S will be able to keep most jobs at home. In this program, these six universities involved will form a multi-university collaborative framework for sharing of educational materials and best practices relating to advanced manufacturing and its linkage to innovation. These universities will also join together with industry partners and leading government agencies to define research opportunities and build a collaborative roadmap for identify key technology priorities.<\/p>\n<p>The president selects Carnegie Mellon to make the announcement based on several areas of strength of this university such as Robotics, Biotechnology, Software engineering, and Energy-efficient manufacturing processes. While at CMU, President Obama views demonstrations of several top cutting-edge technologies of robotics such as self-driven automobiles and trucks, robots that working in manufacturing, robots that work in wastewater treatments using inspection technologies and sophisticated data-analysis. He also reviews several new training programs in Biotechnology, Software Engineering, Clean Energy and Green engineering that he considers as the U.S education\u2019s best.
