Global education plan<\/p>\n

GENEVA July 20011-\u00a0 The U.N. Economic and Social Council, representing the financial resources of all the world’s nations, unanimously agreed that education is the center of its new strategy to end poverty. This strategy could influence all global aid decisions and affect how billions of dollars will be used each year to support developing nations in the future. This decision is declared by the top U.N. official for economic and social affairs: \u201cFrom now on, what goes on in the classroom is ultimately what counts. The best thing that can help a nation is their educated people, not somebody else\u201d. Referring on how the U.N will direct its future multibillion-dollar resources, the top officer said: \u201cWe will do something different from the past by look at real action, real improvement that can be measured as conditions for future aids rather than just another set of annual aid packages\u201d.<\/p>\n

For years, U.N aids, in term of monetary, were often channeled into pockets of corrupted officials or used to buy weapons for internal conflicts. The lack of monitoring has created violence, more civil wars instead of improve the living conditions of people or environmental issues. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told the council that there has been some progress toward the goals of eradicating malaria and other diseases, poor water quality, and social issues of people who live on an extremely low income. From now on, the new strategy will be focus more on education for people to help themselves.<\/p>\n

Most experts believe that the global financial crisis and current economic problems in Europe have impacted the contributions to the U.N budget for global aids. Many developed country\u2019s governments were frustrated with the slow progress of some developing nations regarding their supporting aids. So the alternative would be focus on something that allow them to be self sufficient and education is selected to be the center of the new strategy. Several experts also believe that by focusing on education, especially technical education, will also help solving the critical shortage of skilled workers in many countries. The new plan calls for the creation a world where values such as peace, coexistence, respect, and responsibilities are the norm. To achieve this, the plan has advocated a global education model based on universal values, global understanding, technology focus, and service to humanity. Furthermore, it asks that all countries must become part of the solution and improve its living conditions through the new education initiative.<\/p>\n
