The future platform<\/p>\n

Many readers have written to me regarding my blog articles where I wrote that smart-phones and tablets will dominate the industry and could replace the personal computer (PC). Accordingly, mobile applications will be the fastest growth area in the next few years. Some raised doubt about my prediction but actually they are facts and already happening.<\/p>\n

This week at the largest Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Intel Chief Executive Paul Otellini said \u201cIntel is moving beyond the era of the personal computer (PC) as the devices themselves are less relevant.” He emphasized that smart phones is the area where his company will be focusing on. He said that Intel\u2019s new smart phone hardware will be available in China under the name of Lenovo’s K800. It has a 4.5-inch HD screen and Android software. The collaboration between Intel and Lenovo is signaling the era of the smart phone.<\/p>\n

For many years, Intel and Microsoft are dominating the Personal Computer (PC) industry. Now with Intel is moving on to new smart phone platform, it will change the electronic industry significantly. The new Intel hardware outperforms many currently phones in browsing speeds, performance and energy consumption. Several companies, including Motorola also announced that they will support Intel’s mobile hardware and future phones will also be based on this technology.<\/p>\n

With this new technology, there will be many new products where customers can play games, socialize through online networks and purchase things via their smart phones. According to several studies, e-mobile commerce has been increasing at faster speed with more people purchase things via their phone. With the coming of Window 8 in the next few months, the entire industry will be transformed to faster, smaller, and easy to use smart phones.<\/p>\n

With new smart-phones platform, users will demand more features, more applications, and more games than the current industry can provide. It will create huge demand for skilled workers and opening up more business opportunities for startups specialize in this technology. Although keeping up with the demand of the smart phone industry is not easy but many companies are looking far beyond just current demand of mobile apps, games and e-commerce. Many are preparing to the integration of smart phone into the business world where people can do more things with their phones. There are many new opportunities due to the growing number of users from all over the world with specialized services and custom-developed applications.<\/p>\n

According to several studies, demand for positions such as mobile application developers, data warehouse analysts and user experience (UX) designers is expected to grow in the next five year as companies begin to integrate their information technology (IT) infrastructure to connect with the smart phone devices. More specialized skills will be needed and workers who can upgrade their skills that enable their companies to take advantage of new technology will be rewarded with much better paid career positions. Today there are not enough skilled workers in almost all the varied fields of information technology. Smart phones are the new device, and mobile apps are the new technological advancement in this field. Mobile app development depends mostly on user demands and this popular demand has urged more developers to move their future careers to mobile app development. The current trends are focusing on iPhone, Android and related OS development.<\/p>\n

Cloud computing is another fast growing aspect of technology that has been very popular with huge demand. In fact, cloud computing is the future of web technology and mobile development. The main advantage of cloud computing for mobile apps is that you can now eliminate the mobile phone company from your mobile app transactions. You can directly get your mobile apps if you have an access to the internet. It is being predicted that cloud computing will be almost completely initiated in the major mobile platforms by the end of the year 2015. As the technology is evolving, users do not have to depend on a web browser to use mobile apps. The major platforms like the Google App engine, Amazon Web Services and Sales force\u2019s Force.com will develop mobile apps in both web and mobile formats. A major difficulty for mobile computing is the speed of your internet connection. Some advanced technologies like HTML5 will make things run faster and better.<\/p>\n

At the heart of all smart phone activity is the major issue of security. As users use multiple devices (tablets, smart phones, PC etc.) and connect them to all types of wireless peripherals (storage drives, printers, etc.) there is the need to secure every access point so IT directors must reassess their entire mobile strategy and architecture to make sure that they are secured and it will create more demand for system security workers.<\/p>\n

In other word, the future of information technology and its workers seems brighter than ever.<\/p>\n
