Working experience<\/p>\n

According to a university study, most companies consider relevant experience is the top thing they look for in hiring new graduates. A manager said: \u201cNew graduates need three or four months training to be productive but if you can find graduates with some relevant experiences than it only takes few weeks or a month, less training means more savings to company.\u201d Another manager said: \u201cStudents who have worked are usually more mature, more responsible, and they get along well with others than someone who never leave their parents\u2019 home. Maturity and responsibilities are very important in work environment and we consider them as desirable factors in hiring.\u201d Working students have other advantages because company usually pays them higher salary than inexperienced graduates. With experiences, many can advance faster to better positions.<\/p>\n

If you have never worked, consider some activities in school as working experience so you can add to your resume. Have you ever organize a school event such as spring festival? Students Forum? That is experience. You may write: \u201cHaving organized event with 3,000 students participates. Responsibilities include planning, logistics, organize student volunteers, invite speakers, budgeting etc.\u201d\u00a0 If you worked on a class project that directly relates to your field, you should include it on your r\u00e9sum\u00e9 such as : \u201cManage a Capstone project of six students, plan project and interface with users to gather requirements, analyze risks, assign tasks to team members..Etc.\u201d Sometimes, creating a school newspapers or website is an also good working experience. When apply for job, you may want to include some “Relevant Coursework” on your r\u00e9sum\u00e9. Do not list all classes, select only “Relevant Classes” that relate to the job that you apply. If you apply a software developer job, list some advanced programming course. If you apply testing job, list some programming and testing courses. If you spent time to do volunteer works such as support orphanage activities, charity events, or help victims of a natural disaster. That is experience too. Most companies count volunteer work as relevant experience of a leadership or an active personality.<\/p>\n
