Computer games without code<\/p>\n

When Michael Agustin, a 14year-old boy from Texas receives his first personal computer, it changes his life completely. He loves to play with it as it opens a completely new world to him. As a son of a farmer, he has to wake up at 4:00 in the morning to help his family working in the field. By 8:00, he goes to school until 3:30 in the afternoon. After that, he goes back to the field and works until 6:00.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cLife is hard but we have been doing that for many generations. My whole family works together in the field all day. In the evening, I have to do homeworks and study under the supervision of my father so I do not have much time for anything. In order to play with the computer, I have to wake up at 3:00 in the morning to learn C++ from books that I borrow from the library. I have to be careful, not to wake the whole family up as they have to work in the field so I often go to the kitchen to play with my computer. As a kid, I want to make movies, instead of actors; I used computer characters and create stories in the \u201cvirtual world\u201d. Via the phone modem, I communicate with other game developers across the world, who freely gives me advices, source codes and technical know-how. With their helps, I can create heroes who can walk, talk and fight monsters. Of course, my heroes do not have sophisticated weapons like you see in today\u2019s video games. They do not travel in beautiful sceneries with castles, horses, and fight with dragons to save a princess like you see in fantasy games. But it helps me to enjoy my creation before I go to work with my family in the field.\u201d<\/p>\n

His passions for computer and his dedication to create computer games led him to study at Carnegie Mellon where he earned his degree in 2007, the same year he and some of his friends created a software called \u201cGame Salad\u201d which allow people to create iPhone games without any programming knowledge. Michael explains: \u201cPeople are very creative, many want to develop computer games but not everybody can program so we come up with a new way to develop computer game for people who do not want to write code. There is no faster or easier way to get building a computer game on your Apple iPhone or using Window in your laptop. Its visual, drag & drop based style requires absolutely no coding whatsoever. You do not have to worry about code but devote more time for your creation and imagination.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the introduction of GameSalad in the market, it immediately becomes a \u201chit\u201d with young people all over the world. Many start to build their own games, sell in to their friends to be downloaded in their iPhones or just impress some girlfriends by sending the game with special message to them. Some even sell them at the App store and make money. For example, a three young person from Chile, who uses GameSalad to create a game called \u201c E-Pig Dash\u201d<\/em>, which has rocketed to #1 in the Chilean App Store, and even caught the attention of many TV stations all over the world, including CNN who said: \u201cThis is a fun game to play for everyone\u201d<\/p>\n
