Immigration and Information Technology<\/p>\n

According to a U.S government study, special visa grant for skilled workers has attracted a very large number of applicants. The latest data released by U.S. Immigration Services shows that since the beginning of April 2012, the department has received over 32,000 applications; many from people with advanced degrees.<\/p>\n

The studies found the largest number were Indian and Chinese with Information Technology (IT) degree, followed by Filipinos and Eastern European. The main reason is U.S companies are hiring but could not find enough workers in particular area such as in mobile applications and IT security. The high demand leads to higher wages when workers can make over $120,000 dollars a year. This draw many IT workers from all over the world to the U.S. Beside IT, the next areas that attract global workers are medicine, biotechnology, engineering, and advanced mathematics.<\/p>\n

Overall, the IT industry is still \u201cthe greatest attraction,\u201d as U.S. companies are hiring workers from India and China in greater numbers and bring them to the U.S. A software company representative said to reporters: \u201cIf they have IT degree, we want them, and we will bring them to work here.\u201d Despite protests from some unemployed workers, government studies have confirmed that many of these immigrant professionals will develop new innovations, create more businesses, and provide a lot of job growth to the U.S economy, and that is why the government is changing the immigration laws to bring more skilled people in.<\/p>\n
