What IT workers want?<\/p>\n

Contradict to the current belief that most IT workers only want money. There is a new industry survey of 8,000 IT workers on what they really want. The survey found that since most technology companies offer good salaries and benefits, compared with other fields such as business, humanities, social science, most IT workers were very happy with what they received. \u00a0Following are 10 things that IT workers list as their wishes:<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Achieve success in their career<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Having good manager who understand them.<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Learning new skills to keep up with technology changes<\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Be able to make some decisions on their work.<\/p>\n

5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Being recognized for their work<\/p>\n

6)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Develop something useful and important<\/p>\n

7)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Having fewer constraints to innovate<\/p>\n

8)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Receive new trainings every few years to keep up with skills<\/p>\n

9)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Having a lot of friends<\/p>\n

10)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Find true love in life<\/p>\n

The common complain among IT workers is they are not the image that movies and news media often portrait them: \u201cVery smart but social awkward and have no girl friends.\u201d or \u201cSpend more time playing video games than go out and meet girls.\u201d One software engineer said: \u201cWe are normal people and we do have life after work. We have girlfriends or boyfriends just like anybody else. We are lucky because we can buy our girlfriends or boyfriends things that other people cannot afford. However, many movies or news media always wrote about us as \u201ctechnology smart but lonely or stupid\u201d and that is not true.<\/p>\n

An Indian IT worker told the survey: \u201cThe stupid image of IT workers is mostly portrayed by the American and European movies but in India, it is the opposite. IT workers are considered the smartest, the preferable candidates for marriage. Our culture has a saying that: \u201cNo IT degree, no marriage; Not study IT, no date.\u201d In our universities, IT students often go out with the most beautiful girls because we have better future than any other fields.<\/p>\n
