Today, China is emerging as the world’s largest supplier of college-educated workers. According to a study of McKinsey Global Institute, by 2030 China alone will account for 30% of the world’s new college-educated workers. In comparison, the U.S will account for only 5%, and collectively, advanced countries including the U.S., Japan and much of Europe will account for only 14% of new highly educated workers. The research noted that the investments in education that China made earlier are now in full scale. In the past ten years, China has invested highly in state education system and allowed the opening of more private colleges so now it is ready to compete in the information economy. Today, China has more science, technology, and engineering graduates than any country in the world.

However, the question remain whether China graduates has the quality of education to compete with U.S and European countries or not? According to an university report, the overall quality of Chinese graduates is by far much less than most graduates in the U.S, Europe, and not even compare to Japan, Singapore and S. Korea. The report cited the archaic education systems that have not change for years; the number of academic papers being published by Chinese researchers which are mostly theoretical, irrelevant, and many are plagiarized from other published papers that do nothing more than boost national pride. The report found that almost no innovation is coming from government-funded researches or the private sectors. The majority of industry works were licensed from foreign countries rather from its own. Some were copy or stolen from foreign firms. It pointed to the root cause that many university professors were trained years ago and did not keep up with the current technology trends. The education system is burdened with bureaucracy, family relationships, and slows to change.

However, the report found that China’s real advantage belongs to its next generation of students who graduate from its top schools or private colleges that have adopted training programs from top global universities. These students are very similar to their counterparts in the West. They are well trained, motivated, and ambitious and they will be the force that shapes the future of China. The report stated: “Unlike previous generation, these new generation knows no bounds and do not hesitate to take risks. Unlike their parents, this new generation has ambitions and can innovate. They are willing to adopt technology to rise above the ordinary, many of them were educated in the U.S and Europe, and some even have experiences in startups at Silicon Valley. With the success of entrepreneurs such as Jack Ma, Joe Tsai, Robin Li, Eric Xu, and Kaifu Lee many Chinese youth now have role models to follow. With thousands of highly educated Chinese returning to China every year from the U.S. they began to give China a new entrepreneurial spirit and teach locals how to build a knowledge society Silicon Valley style. This has created a new generation that are hungry for knowledge and willing to learn more. These are the people who in turn will building wealth on their own rather than be part of a system. Most of them want to be their own bosses and to create their own paths to success. They clearly did not like the idea of working for a state own company or the government.

The question is whether China can harness all this new energy and lead the world in the information age or not? There are several factors that may prevent this from happening. The most obvious is these new companies must compete with the giants state owned companies. Some may not be able to compete because the intellectual property laws are ineffective. If they achieved success, government officials may step in to control the company or demand a piece of the profits. Unless China’s rule of law is strengthened and entrepreneurs are given the business freedoms that they need, China may not see a lot of innovations or startups. If China can solve these obstacles, the world will be difference.

Another study noted that in the information age, there is a huge need for college grads, especially in the technology area. Many China’s graduates may decide to go elsewhere rather than stay in China and this brain drain may slow down the improvement to some degree. It is predicted that companies around the world will be faced with a shortage of 38 million college-educated workers in technology but a surplus of 90 million unskilled workers by 2020. This unbalanced will create significant change in many countries as unemployment will rise to the highest level in history and destabilize many governments. The study also noted that in advanced development countries, the imbalance could lead to more income inequality among workers but in developing countries, this is very serious because it could lead to chaotic situation where government cannot control the large unemployed population. The transition from manufacturing economy to information technology could become more serious with increasing social tensions.

Trong hai mươi năm qua, Trung Quốc nổi tiếng về lương thấp và công nhân lao động không kĩ năng, những người làm việc trong …

[1

post-1344","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-xu-huong-toan-cau
["GET
