The new industry trend<\/p>\n

One of the major character of the Information Technology (IT) is it is changing fast. To catch up with the technology change to meet new demand is the key factor for business success. Fifty years ago, everything was based on mainframe computers but the personal computer (PC) changed that and companies or workers with PC skills were needed and workers who continue with mainframe were having difficulty finding jobs. Today many things are based on PC but it is changing fast to the next technology: Mobile platform.<\/p>\n

According to a new study, more than half of people in the world have mobile phones and smart phones but only 30% of the people have personal computer. In many countries, connection to the internet using PC is difficult and slow due to the poor infrastructure but connects to the internet using mobile phone is much faster. Therefore, the future growth is in the mobile platform and future software developments will likely be in this fast growing area. Of course, as mobile industry grows, more mobile skilled workers will be needed. Currently most university training programs are still based on PC but not mobile even the demand for mobile software workers is very high all over the world. The study concluded: \u201cToday, most companies and universities are unaware of this trend. This is a good opportunity for some companies to enter this market before others. It is also a good opportunity for universities to change their trainings to meet this demand.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many people do not believe that mobile can replace PC but as more and more people are switching to smart phone, the PC will no longer be the main device through which people interact with the data environment. However, it is important to point out that it does not mean the industry will no longer use PC. Many companies will continue to use PC for their works such as word processing, documentation, graphic design, accounting, and financing etc. However, the job market for PC will not growing as compare with the market for mobile platform. As more people are using smart phone, the mobile application market will grow fast, more tools will be needed, and more mobile software developers will also be needed.<\/p>\n

Today almost everything people need on a PC has been developed. That is why Microsoft is dominating the PC market with Window, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel etc. However as the iPad is getting popular with sales are expected to increase to 500 million by next year and more people are having smart phone, the market will change. Of course, people are not buying tablets or smart phones to replace their PCs but they will use tablets and smart phones for communication and collaboration. Social networking will continue be a key driver for mobile market.<\/p>\n

It is predicted that there will be problems in the next few years when it comes to application management of three major trends in the IT industry: Mobile, Cloud Computing, and Data integration. How could companies monitor and manage these three complex interactions? Without understand these new technology and how they interact, companies will face major problems. Today most workers are trained in programming but not integrating. They are trained in developing but not architecture. Without understand the system architect, they cannot integrate several complex technologies and it will be a major problem to many IT companies. Companies that attempt to manage complex technology manually or by trial and errors will experiencing an escalation of undiagnosed problems that are never solved which open up for more vulnerable in their system security.
