Five Most educated countries<\/p>\n

The Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) recently released its Global Education 2012 report and list the five most educated countries in the world:<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Russia is considered the most highly educated country in the world with 54% of population have a college degree. Russia has a strong history of investing in education but in recent years, its education system is declining quickly due to the \u201cbrain-drain\u201d issue as top professors and scientists are leaving the country to get better jobs elsewhere. For many years, Russia has provided training to foreign students who came to study in its well known schools but recently the number had declined rapidly. Without proper actions, Russia may not be able to keep its status because other countries are rapidly catching up.<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Canada is rated the second most educated country in the world with 51% of the population have a college degree. Although Canada is a global leader in education but its population is aging rapidly, without younger workforce to go to college, it may not be able to keep its top spot and remain competitive in the global labor market for long. In recent years, Canada is taking action to improve its immigration policies and allow more foreign students to enroll in their schools and remain in the country after graduate.<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Israel has the third largest population of college degree holders with an estimated 47% of the population have a college degree. Not only Israel has one of the best education system in the world but also has the best college and job ratio as most of their college graduates have jobs due to its fast growing economy.<\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Japan is rated number four with 45% of the population have a college degree. However Japan is also one of the most expensive education system where students pay the high tuitions among developed countries behind the U.S, Britain and S. Korea. Additionally, the government spends only 0.5 of its GDP on education, much less than other developed countries. Most funding to Japan’s college education comes from private companies.<\/p>\n

5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 United States is the fifth most educated country in the world with 42% of the population have a college degree. The U.S. has some of the best universities in the world but its education is expensive (Most top U.S universities are private). However, due to the reputation and advanced training programs, the U.S. has attracted the highest number of foreign students in their schools. After graduated, most stay to pursue a career in the U.S instead of returning home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
